A group of U6 students have a lot to sing about this week as they’ve just won the Round Table Global Youth Award for raising nearly £1,500 for charity with their production of the smash-hit musical Legally Blonde.

The group raised money for the Trust House Reading charity which offers support to victims of sexual assault. The girls’ award was announced at a special gala ceremony in London on Saturday night.

The production was entirely organised by the Sixth Form students with no outside help from staff; even the ten-piece band were students. Organisers Paris, Esther, Maddie, Claudia and their team raised the money by baking cakes and selling them at break time, a designer label clothing sale (with donated items) and a retiring collection at the end of each performance.

Esther, a QAS Drama Scholar, said “following the success of our production, we are extremely grateful to be recognised on a bigger scale and further spread awareness of sexual assault in our society”.

Congratulations on a well-deserved win!
