On Tuesday, we welcomed alumna Scarlett Stanton who left QAS in 2021 to talk to our Sixth form students about life at Edinburgh University, where she studies English Literature and History and her charitable work with 'Sanitree' as a team leader.
Sanitree is a charity that aims to empower women and help the planet. The charity is based in India with Edinburgh as the UK base, where 18 members of the student-led Sanitree team attend university together. Her role is a managerial one, where she is in charge of sub teams and also helping the non-profit achieve its bigger goals.
The team are focused on fundraising to support the production and activities in Jaipur at the Her Shakti Centre. Scarlett and her team host events for the student community throughout the year to raise funds and awareness of operations as well as working with political and community stakeholders, organising campaigns to raise awareness of menstrual education and the stigma that affects women in many countries.
