The Role

We are seeking to appoint a qualified and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant with previous experience.

This is a part time, term-time role, which will report into the Head of Learning Development with updates to the Head. The main role of the Teaching Assistant is to work with the Teachers to support individual pupils who may require more support. This can be in lessons or co-curricular activities and the primary outcome is to ensure that the pupils are supported to be able to learn in the most effective way. The duties will include:

  • Obtaining the knowledge to understand the lessons that are being taught.
  • Ability to carry out tasks including a computer or hand held device
  • Willingness to work in both classroom and co-curricular activities
  • Supervising pupils to ensure that they are engaged
  • Support the emotional and social development of pupils
  • Enhance learning and develop programs for adaptation
  • Motivate and encourage pupils
  • Be prepared to write progress reports as required
  • Assist pupils with prep
  • Accompany pupils on relevant trips
  • Be prepared to seal with a pupil who may have emotional or leaning difficulties

The Science Centre is a state-of-the art building with seven laboratories; all are fully networked with Wi-Fi. Every lab has a data projector and Smart Board.

Cover Assistant Weekends

The role

We are seeking to appoint a Cover Assistant to assist in the weekend supervision of pupils in the Music Department.  Supervision is required in the Music Centre during the weekend, 9.00 am until 12.00 midday, Saturday and Sunday.

Duties

The main duties include:

  • Supervision of students in the Music Department to support their practise time
  • Ensuring pupils are signed in
  • Carry out regular tours of the department  
  • Undertake any routine administrative tasks

Cover Assistant Evenings

The role

We are seeking to appoint an Evening Cover Assistant to help support music practise out of the school day and act as liaison between external hirers.

Main duties:

  • To assist in the evening care of pupils, enabling students to continue their music practise under supervision. 
  • To support the school’s programme of external lettings. These include commercial hire bookings of the school facilities, in particular acting as a liaison between the school and Berkshire Music Trust.

Based in the Music Centre during the evenings Monday, Tuesday and Friday from 6.00-9.00pm, Wednesday and Thursday 4.00-9pm (19 hours).
