Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) is important in all aspects of life at Queen Anne’s School. Led by Dr Smith, the Head of EDI, in partnership with the EDI Student Prefect, there is a newly established EDI@QA group which aims to continue to provide a safe and supportive environment for all our students and staff in which to learn about, debate and discuss issues relating to equality, diversity and inclusion.

We have developed a calendar of events and opportunities that support increased awareness, understanding and celebration of the diversity within our school community as well as supporting the embedding of inclusive practices across the school, developing practical solutions to address identified diversity and inclusion issues.

As a school community we aim to facilitate the sharing of best practice on diversity and inclusion issues from across all areas of school life and are committed to ensuring every member of our community is valued for who they are.

Over the last year we have begun working with several different agencies in the field of EDI including  ‘Diverse Educators’ and ‘The Schools Inclusion Alliance’, whose websites you can access below. We are also planning collaborative projects with the University of Reading alongside Dr Yota Dimitriadi at the Institute of Education.

In March 2023, Queen Anne’s School celebrated diversity with an annual Cultural Awareness Week organised by the Queen Anne's Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Society and its sub-groups including:

  • Asian Students’ Association (ASA)
  • Gender and Sexuality Association (GSA)
  • Afro-Caribbean Society (ACS)

It is such a privilege to be the first EDI Prefect at QAS and I am really excited to work with the whole community to ensure QAS continues to be a safe and inclusive place for everyone. I am hoping to achieve this through using my platform to share my experiences and educate people so that EDI is at the forefront of QAS life.
