Sixth Form Interview Day

Sixth Form

Interview Day took place on Wednesday 16th June for our 6th form students to give them the opportunity to practice their interview technique and receive feedback on their CV.

Preparation started in November 2020 with a CV workshop that introduced ways to write an insightful and high-quality CV.

There are many ways an interview can be conducted and in May, students learned how to prepare for a face to face and online interview. They learned about lighting, device set up, internet connection, how to answer questions using the SMART method and were able to practice answering interview questions.

Students fully engaged with the interviews which were delivered by 15 volunteers from a variety of backgrounds including Queen Anne’s School alumna, Boden, Loreal, BT, Philips Sonicare, Law firm Cooley and Costain.

A huge thank you to Sam Cooke, Francisca Posada-Brown, Hannah Bisbas, Rebecca Rowley, Roisin McCarthy, Sharon Makanjuola, Charlotte Wiggins, Julia Roast, Sascha Grimm, Felicity Lynagh, Emma Woodward, Julie-Nora Eldin, Andre Roy, Shehneel Hasham, and Grace Shepherd.

"It was a privilege to interview the students and to hear about their diverse interests and aspirations. I took part in the day because I believe we can all contribute to empowering others, which is increasingly important during times that have been challenging for everyone. I also saw this as a personal learning opportunity - and I certainly learned a lot from the students who all showed incredible enthusiasm, resilience and curiosity. Thank you for inviting me to take part!" Francisca Posada-Brown, Queen Anne’s Alumna

Students have had a positive experience and have learned a great deal from their interviews which they will be able to take forward to their next interview.

“I think the pace is perfect, not too rushed and we have got great advice and feedback back from the interviewer”.

The Interview Day was organised by Kelly Odell, Careers Advisor at Queen Anne’s School to help students learn about the job application process, the importance of having a robust CV and how to prepare and participate in an interview.

“This was a great opportunity for students to develop and practice their interview technique in a safe and supported environment with the help of our wonderful volunteers”.
