Boarders had a brilliant afternoon trip to Clip 'n Climb near Reading on Sunday 21 September. It was a colourful and creative environment for people of all ages to try out different levels of climbing and “reach new heights”!

One of the highlight challenges for the pupils was the Stairway to Heaven - a series of tall, green posts standing freely in a spiral in the middle of the room, getting progressively higher, with large steps across mid-air gaps in between. Despite wearing secure harnesses and being connected to an auto-belay machine, they had to overcome their fear of heights and demonstrated tremendous balance skills to conquer the highest pillar.

There were also activities involving rope ladders, stacking and climbing blocks, a tower of spheres of different sizes, LEDs, drainpipes, telegraph poles, speed climbing with a timer, and traditional climbing walls with overhangs and tricky moves between grippy climbing holds. Mr North showcased his climbing prowess by tackling a corner climb going up backwards “like Spiderman,” while Miss Morris tackled the Stairway to Heaven, wobbling the pillars with shaky knees near the top.

Everyone had fun trying new challenges and building their confidence, encouraging and cheering each other on!
