L4 Geography students spent a productive day at the River Pang, investigating river characteristics through hands-on geographical fieldwork.
Equipped with waders, students entered the river to collect a range of measurements, including depth, width, and velocity, developing their understanding of river dynamics through direct observation and data collection.

In addition to physical measurements, students used nets to explore the river ecosystem, gaining insight into freshwater habitats and biodiversity. The fieldwork proved particularly engaging, with students successfully catching several fish and even a crayfish during sampling.

The visit provided a valuable opportunity to apply classroom learning in a real-world setting, strengthening practical fieldwork skills such as data collection, analysis, and environmental observation.

The trip combined academic enquiry with an engaging outdoor experience, offering students a deeper understanding of river processes and ecosystems in a dynamic field environment.
