Starting secondary school can feel like a big step, but the new Year 7 students at Queen Anne’s have already made a fantastic start thanks to three exciting induction days designed to help them settle in and make new friends.

Their first experience was a Performing Arts Day, led by Divergent Drama. Pupils embraced the magic of The Greatest Showman, learning circus skills before moving on to singing, dancing, and creating their own dramatic scenes inspired by the musical. Working in groups, they built confidence, showcased their creativity, and finished the day with lively performances for their classmates.

Day two was all about STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Maths), delivered by Hyett Education. In the morning, pupils worked in small teams to design, build and program robots, testing their creations by setting them tasks and challenges. The afternoon brought an innovative workshop on artificial intelligence, where students explored design thinking through the humble paper airplane - testing different shapes and movements to discover what worked best.

The third induction event will take place later this month. While the rest of the school takes part in team-building activities, Year 7 will be heading to Go Ape for their Outdoor Activities Day. This promises to be another fantastic opportunity to develop resilience, cooperation, and friendship in a fun and memorable setting.

With such a positive start, Year 7 are already showing they are ready to thrive.
