Before the start of term, Queen Anne's welcomed a number of students for Boarding Induction Week.
Induction Week is designed to give new international boarders time to settle in, get to know the school and the local area, and most importantly make friends before the start of their first year at Queen Anne's.
Onsite activities included bee-keeping, sports, an introduction to the art department, and pizza making. There were also lessons that focused on IT set-up and practice, learning how to give a presentation and sharing ideas on how best to record new vocabulary. There were visits to Caversham and Reading, as well as IKEA so the students could buy something new for their rooms.
The most talked about trip of the week though went to the Roman Bath with its dense history and proximity to shopping!

Senya in L5 attended Induction Week last year and this year returned as a helper.
"My role involved welcoming first-years, helping them find their way, answering questions, and encouraging them to get involved in the activities. It was a great feeling to give back and help others feel more at ease, just like others did for me last year.
One of the highlights for me was seeing how quickly students went from feeling unsure to laughing and making friends. A student I spoke to on the first day told me, “I was really nervous this morning, but everyone’s been so kind, I already feel better.” That really stayed with me.
Overall, Induction Week is about building confidence and community. Being a helper this year reminded me how far I’ve come since my own first week. It was not only a chance to support others but also a moment to reflect on my own journey."
Boarding Induction Week marks the beginning of a new chapter for each student arriving at Queen Anne's, giving them the confidence to go into the new year with enthusiasm and curiosity for what lies ahead.
