The L5 and U5 Teambuilding Trip to Hangloose Adventure on Friday 26 September was an unforgettable day. From start to finish, our students embodied everything that makes team building special: pushing beyond comfort zones, supporting one another through challenges, and discovering just how much they are capable of when faced with the unknown.
The day began with Europe’s largest free-fall swing, where students were strapped in and slowly lifted high above the quarry. The tension was high, a mix of excitement and nerves.
Next came England’s longest zipwire, and what an experience! After travelling to the launch site and climbing six flights of stairs, students found themselves on the edge of a platform awaiting their turn to soar through the trees.
The Aerial Trek (high ropes) tested everyones balance. Two levels of elevated obstacles called for careful footwork and nerves of steel. Students had to face their fears while stepping onto (very) wobbly bridges, ropes ladders, and high platforms, with encouraging words shouted from their peers below.
The course concluded in style with a thrilling zipwire ride across the water.
Perhaps the coldest (and funniest!) challenge of the day was London’s Aqua Water Park Course. A plunge into freezing water to swim across to the inflatables was a shock to the system. Climbing and sliding, they battled through the course. L5 Head of Year, Mr Blackwell said "There was so much laughter in the lake and the sight of students helping each other showed the very best of team spirit."
It was so nice to see how everyone embraced the various obstacles and really put themselves outside their comfort zones! It was also fantastic to see so many staff also enjoying the fear, heights, speeds and adrenaline rushes aswell! Thank you to Mr Blackwell and Mr Walden for organising it all.
A truly outstanding day for an outstanding year group; one they are all eager to revisit.
