L4 Trips

On Thursday 7 November our 4s students took a trip to London Central Mosque, as part of their religious and philosophy studies. Here they learned more about Islam, explored the mosque, and had the chance to witness Islamic prayers first hand.

Have a look at what the girls thought of their interesting trip below:

First, we were taken to the prayer hall. As part of respect, we took off our shoes and made sure our headscarves were tied. We sat down, noticing the structures around us. The dome had beautiful lights and echoed the sound. The Mihrab showed which direction to pray in and most importantly, there was the Qur’an. It was open on a stool facing the Imam. There were also prayer mats on the floor.

We sat down and started receiving information from our tour guide for the day. He explained the structures of the mosque, how the mosque belongs to Islam, and what being a Muslim really means. He also took the time to answer our questions. It was very informative. After that, he left to pray.

Muslims have to stand directly next to each other to pray, so that the devil won’t pass through. The call to prayer was amazing and sounded like singing. We got to see the Imam wearing all brown to be modest.

After that, we travelled to a promotional room which looked like a museum. We then went to eat in a big hall. They were very accommodating.

I would recommend this trip to other years. It was very interesting and I learned a lot of things about Islam. It was much more inspiring than I expected, and it made me realise that Muslims are very dedicated and disciplined.

I enjoyed the trip to London Central Mosque as it was very interesting to learn about Islam and learn about the parts of the mosque. According to Muslims, their religion is about submission, and I found this very interesting.

I found it fascinating to see the inside of the Qur’an. To see the Imam lead the prayer was good to watch and to see all the Muslims line up to do salat in synch was fascinating.

We also saw many parts of the mosque, including the prayer hall, the dome, the Minaret and the Mihrab. We also learned some cool facts, and the decoration was beautiful and very colourful.

I really enjoyed the trip to the mosque as I got to see a difference culture and way of living.

The prayer hall was very beautiful and I was amazed by their prayers and how they stood extremely close together. I learned many facts, from how Muslims all have to wear beige clothing when praying, to how men and women have to pray differently.

I felt very relaxed and peaceful when the Imam recited his prayers and sang, which was very calming and interesting.

Overall, I really enjoyed the trip to the fascinating mosque.

My trip to the London Central Mosque was very interesting.

We were allowed to enter the prayer room and watch the prayers taking place. It was very generous for them to let us watch them pray and recite the Qur’an. They even let us read an English translation of it.

We also read about religion in the museum. Overall, this trip was very enjoyable and I would definitely recommend it.

We went to the London Central Mosque and I learned a lot of things about Islam.

I liked the dome because I felt calm sitting under it. I understood how Muslims felt they could communicate with Allah, as the dome was so high, big and beautiful with a blue point. It made me feel comfortable.

I found that the trip to London Central Mosque was very exciting.

My favourite part was the dome and the chandelier hanging down from the top. Sitting under the dome and talking was really cool because our voices echoed louder.

I thought that the people who were praying were very kind and respectful to us.

It was interesting because we learned things that we couldn’t learn in the classroom.
