On 12 October the cast of The Winter’s Tale took part in a virtual workshop with the Shakespeare Schools Festival. Tim Allsop, a professional actor who has worked at The Globe and The National Theatre joined us virtually in the PAC.
Starting with an actor’s warm-up Tim led the girls through a variety of exercises which helped them explore physical characterisation. This was followed by some detailed work on the text. The girls then performed a section of the play for him, which he then rehearsed with them in detail, giving lots of helpful suggestions along the way.
The Shakespeare School’s Festival’s “One Night Of Shakespeare” is the biggest theatrical event this year. Queen Anne’s School is one of hundreds of schools across the country taking part in a world record attempt for the most Simultaneous Shakespearean performances.
