Drama School Production

"We are such stuff as dreams are made on..."

This year the Middle School Drama production was 'The Tempest', a classic by William Shakespeare.

Not only would this performance be showcased at QAS but it was also the Drama teams entry for the Coram Shakespeare Schools Festival. This is an annual event that provides young people across the UK with the opportunity to perform Shakespeare's plays on professional theatre stages. It is one of the largest youth drama festivals of its kind, aimed at celebrating both the works of William Shakespeare and the creativity of young performers.

Students had an enriching and exciting experience participating in the Coram Shakespeare Schools Festival (CSSF) this year alongside two other schools! Being part of such a renowned festival was a great opportunity for them to showcase their creativity and talent.

Before their performances, students were visited by a director from the CSSF, who conducted a workshop which provided valuable insights and guidance, helping them refine their performances.

The shows run began at The Wilde Theatre at South Hill Park Arts Centre alongside other schools which was a memorable experience, especially with the added excitement of performing to a paying audience.

Bringing the performance back to Queen Anne's stage in the Performing Arts Centre (PAC) for two additional performances was a wonderful way to share their hard work and dedication with the school community. The students put their hearts into the production, delivering a performance full of magic and joy.

Overall, participating in the CSSF provided the students with not only a platform to showcase their acting skills but also an opportunity for personal growth, teamwork, and a deeper appreciation for the works of Shakespeare.
