Art Event

The Art Department was proud to showcase a vibrant and ambitious body of work from our GCSE and A Level students on Saturday 28 June, with the opening of the annual Art Exhibition. GCSE Art and Textiles students exhibited across a wide range of disciplines, including drawing and painting, printmaking, photography, animation, textile garments and fine art textiles. Their creative and diverse responses to this year’s exam theme, Gathering, demonstrated both technical skill and imaginative thinking.

Our A Level artists presented a particularly conceptual and mature exhibition, spanning painting at scale, immersive installations, animation, photography and video. The exam theme, Union, was interpreted in deeply personal and original ways - from Danny’s (L6) exploration of forced unions, to Beth’s (U6) reflection on family unions, and Libby’s (U6) study of the union between the mind and body. All of our students responded to the theme in compelling and personal ways, producing a diverse and deeply thoughtful body of work.

"The work this year has set a new benchmark, and we could not be more proud of the creativity and ambition shown throughout. Thank you to everyone who visited our Summer Exhibition which was straight after Speech Day - we appreciate your support." - Mr Tarrant.
