Sports Day Event

Queen Anne's Sports Day was an event to be proud of!

Yesterday afternoon was filled with roaring crowds, record-breaking javelin throws, photo-finishes, and plenty of ice-cream. Even with a mild storm forcing an intermission, the students kept morale high with dance parties from the field to the sports hall, then once more returning to the track in the sun to finish off the day with nail-biting relays.

When it came to the final results, we had one of the closest margins in recent memory, with charter Curie taking the trophy home by one point and a tied second place of Austen and Pankhurst! There's always next year for Franklin (4th) and Watson (5th).

The Burley Cup - awarded to someone who best demonstrated the Queen Anne's values of a Kind Heart, Fierce Mind and Strong Spirit - was won by Holly (L6). The trophy returning to Watson for the second year in a row.

There was also school record breaking during the afternoon:

Oliva (U4) ran a historic Inter 1500m race with a time of 04:59:17 minutes - breaking a record set in 1994!

Francesca (U4) broke the Inter Javelin record (previously held by current head girl Mary) with 30.76m and broke it again at St Mary's Ascot with 33.10m.

And Mary (L6) broke the Senior Javelin record from 2017 with a distance of 33.39m.

Huge congratulations to the sports department for organising such an incredible day.
