Art Achievement

Lower Sixth student Sofia has been recognised for her artistic talent, winning the Henley ArtSpark Competition, part of the annual Henley Arts Trail.

The competition provides young people from the local area with the opportunity to showcase their artistic talents and reflect on the role creativity plays in their lives. As part of the entry process, Sofia was asked to explain what creativity means to her and how important it is, as well as to share examples of her artwork with the judges.

In her submission, Sofia wrote:

Being creative isn't just a skill. In my eyes it is the ability to express yourself, to develop and to evolve. It is a way of creating and developing new things. It is what makes one unique and special.

She also described creativity as a process that involves taking risks and exploring new ideas without fear of failure.

Although Sofia is still considering her future career path, she shared that she would love to pursue something art-related after school in order to continue developing her creativity.

As the winner of the competition, Sofia will have the opportunity to attend a day-long workshop with a local artist. She has chosen to explore clay sculpture, and we look forward to hearing about her experience and seeing what she creates.

In addition, Sofia will receive a goodie bag of Daler Rowney art supplies and has been invited to attend a special prize-giving evening with the Mayor of Henley.

Many congratulations to Sofia on this wonderful achievement.

Below are some of the pieces Sofia submitted.
