Over the summer holidays, Upper 5 student Abigail attended the prestigious Silicon Valley International Invention Festival in Santa Clara, California.
Submitting two inventions, Abigail had great success. She was awarded a Silver Medal for her "Invisible Rain Cover Device for Vehicles" - an invention that uses a stream of air to deflect rain. Abigail was then awarded a Gold Medal and the "Award for Outstanding Innovation" for her invention of a Luggage Bag with a Brake and Self-Weighing Mechanism!

The fantastic idea is now patented in Taiwan and is pending confirmation in Germany, Japan, China and the USA, with a prototype planned for completion by the end of September. Abigail's success has even lead to an invitation to a larger invention exhibition in Geneva in March 2026!
Whilst out in California, Abigail took the opportunity to visit Stanford and Berkeley University as she intends on pursuing university options in the UK and abroad once she finishes school. Queen Anne's looks forward to supporting Abigail when she begins her sixth form journey with us this September.
