The U19 senior netball team enjoyed an outstanding season, culminating in qualification for the Final Four of the Sisters n Sport Bowl competition in February. Having narrowly missed out at the same stage last year to the eventual winners, the team demonstrated impressive determination and growth to progress further this season.
Their final qualifying match required an away trip to Redbourne Upper. It proved to be a challenging and closely contested game, with the team trailing by a couple of goals for much of the match. However, their resilience and perseverance paid off as they gradually built momentum, eventually taking control and extending their lead to secure a well-earned victory and a place in the Final Four.
The team travelled to Loughborough University on Wednesday 11 March, where they prepared with a team dinner and evening activities ahead of competition day.
In their opening match against Guildford High School, the team started strongly, going goal-for-goal and demonstrating great determination. However, small errors and the intensity of the shortened seven-minute quarters led to fatigue, allowing the opposition to pull ahead. The match finished 11–20.
This result placed them in the 3rd/4th place play-off against St John’s. The team responded positively, showing increased energy, drive, and a marked improvement in performance. The game remained tightly contested, with only one or two goals separating the sides for much of the match. Despite their efforts, St John’s edged ahead in the final quarter, and the match finished 19–25.
The team finished fourth overall - an outstanding achievement at national level. The players and staff should be incredibly proud, particularly given the high standard of opposition. A special mention goes to Olivia (L6), who was named Player of the Match in the 3rd/4th place play-off by the competition organisers in recognition of her outstanding performance. With many players in their final year, it marked a memorable and fitting end to their school netball journey.
