Music Whole School

This week, Queen Anne’s musicians have been ‘wowing’ audiences in Wallingford and at the Musical Showcase.

Ten girls performed to a packed audience in the Wallingford Winter Recital on Saturday 25 February. The standard was extremely high in particular Helen L6, who performed 12 minutes of the very challenging Beethoven Appassionato Sonata on the piano. Helen's poise and technical control was fantastic. Eleanor L5 performed the Hungarian Rhapsody by Popper and this was quite something! Such a challenging piece requiring so many advanced techniques, but she handled it brilliantly and gave an outstanding performance.  The Vivaldi Concerto for Four violins was dazzling playing by Megan L6, Hilarie U6, Anna U4 and Juny L6 and Jaey L6 gave a wonderful performance of Pan by Mouquet.

On Monday 27 February  our Concert Band, Jazzabelles and Clarinetix performed a Musical Showcase. This was an evening of music from films and shows including Mamma Mia, James Bond. Shrek and Aladdin. Alongside this, the Jazzabelles played Summertime featuring Sofiia (L5) as solo singer. The Clarinetix delighted the audience with music by Eric Clapton and Abba. An enjoyable evening of light music in a cabaret setting.
