Poem of the Week - The Future

This week's 'Poem of the Week' from Lower Sixth student Gaia D is an extract from 'The Future' by Matthew Arnold.

"This poem is about time" explains Gaia. "Arnold compares time to a “river”, implying that the present is a fleeting moment soon to be replaced by the future. Life is constantly moving and changing all around us. Arnold also implies that what will happen in the future is a mystery to us; it is unpredictable, just as a river is unpredictable."
