Huge congratulations to our alumna, Annabelle Akintoye (Class of 2014), for making history as the first Black woman to captain an England lacrosse team in any format at a major tournament!
Annabelle will lead the England women's box lacrosse team at the 2024 World Lacrosse Box Championships in Utica, New York, from 20-29 September. Not only is she the first Black woman to captain England, but she and fellow defender Davina Emetulu are also the first Black women to represent England at a major lacrosse tournament.
From picking up a lacrosse stick for the first time at Queen Anne’s at age 11 to captaining England on the global stage, Annabelle’s journey has been truly inspiring. We are incredibly proud of all she has achieved and can’t wait to watch her and the team make history!
Good luck, Annabelle! We’re all cheering you on!
