Hettie joined Queen Anne’s in Lower 4 as a day girl along with her sister who joined in Upper 4.

Hettie found a love for science and lacrosse when she joined Queen Anne’s, and studied Biology, Chemistry and Psychology at A Level.

Alongside her studies Hettie played in the Senior first team, representing the school in fixtures and tournaments.

As well as playing lacrosse at school, Hettie plays in the U19 National England Academy. “I trialled for England Lacrosse after being put forward by my school coach. I trialled for the regional team in 2019 and have been playing ever since.”

Hettie has begun thinking about life after Queen Anne's and aspires to study medicine at university, “we have lots of talks about UCAS and personal statements and my tutor has been really helpful in guiding me; I always know I can go to my teacher for help.”

She’s an active member of MedSoc and says “I am going to be running the society in Upper 6. It’s useful to be a part of MedSoc as it helps you understand the process of getting into universities to study medical degrees and the pressure that goes with choosing to study, for example, medicine, as everything is riding on one exam.

I’m also a STEM prefect, which I hope will help with my university applications. In my final year, I want to create more STEM events for the school along with trips, which will help the younger years understand the careers available in STEM.”

Queen Anne’s is a very welcoming school that helps every student achieve their best.

Hettie has thrown herself into life at school, and recently completed a Cairngorms charity challenge with her peers in aid of the Alexander Devine Children’s Hospice. Hettie, along with six of her classmates, took part in a three-day hike, complete with wild camping. Hettie explains, “I’ve done DofE, but I wanted to do something to challenge myself further and raise money for charity in a different way to usual. It was good to push myself to see if I could do it and we ended up raising a lot from it.”
