On Tuesday 3 March, Lower 6 students took part in a series of workshops to help them prepare for independence in the future.

The workshops were delivered by Hannah Jackson from Haslams Estate Agents, PS Abhi Bajwa and PC Dafnie Espera from Thames Valley Police, Fiona Rooney from Denham Wealth Management LLP and our very own Mr Towse.

Hannah taught them how to research and safely rent a property either on their own or as part of a house share. What happens to their deposit? How do they split bills? All questions that were answered in this session.

Abhi and Dafnie shared how students could keep themselves safe on a night out, the dos and don'ts of using a taxi service and how to be mindful of their surroundings.

Fiona talked to students about the importance of looking after your personal finance including creating a good credit score, interest on savings and how much tax they should pay from their salary each month.

Lastly, Mr Towse delivered a workshop all about car maintenance including how to change a tire, what to do if you break down and how to check a cars oil.

"The feedback was incredibly positive from students and I am so grateful to Fiona, Abhi, Dafnie, Hannah and Mr Towse for giving up their afternoon to work with our Lower 6." - Mrs Odell, Head of Careers.
