A group of U6 students from Queen Anne’s School won the ‘Educational Change’ award for the most impactful project in education at the Roundtable Global Youth Awards.

The Global Youth Awards supports and showcases extraordinary young people aged 11-18 around the world who are leading inspirational projects for a positive impact.

The girls have been working with UK charity Sport in Mind to develop and deliver mental health wellbeing sessions for their school.

Sport in Mind is a charity that uses physical activity and sport to help aid the recovery of people experiencing mental health problems.

Research shows that students will take in much more from their peers than experts or adults, so having the students taking charge was vital. They have run workshops for other local schools, helping them realise the most effective way to produce a similar result in their own schools. Students have also helped to run and participate in a Sport in Mind football tournament at the Madejski Stadium for service users of the charity.

The event was a fabulous mix of musical performances, a drumming workshop and a celebration of all the amazing things that the finalists have done” Isobel said. “It was an honour to attend and I am so grateful for the opportunity that we were given.
