Why families choose Queen Anne's School

Queen Anne’s is an inspirational day and boarding school for girls aged 11-18 set in 35 acres in the heart of Berkshire with easy access to London. Founded in 1894, the school is steeped in history and tradition and is known for its pioneering education that prepares girls for the challenges of the modern world. The school is part of the United Westminster Grey Coat Foundation that was founded in 1699 in Westminster as the Grey Coat Hospital.

Queen Anne’s is known for its outstanding ‘value added’ including 0.7 grades better at GCSE, with exceptional Music, Performing Arts, English and PE provision. Students are supported academically, and high standards of teaching and learning are encouraged across all year groups. They become motivated, curious and independent learners with the confidence to pursue any passion.

A broad, balanced curriculum complements an extensive range of co-curricular opportunities. Queen Anne’s boasts a state-of-the-art music centre; outstanding art, design, animation, and ceramics facilities; plus, a 250-seat theatre and a thriving dance department.  Many students earn places on national sports teams and overseas sports scholarships, particularly in lacrosse. Netball is also a prominent sport, as well as emerging sports such as football and cricket.

From the modern Sixth Form centre that fosters determination and collaboration, to the careful support of the wellbeing programme, every girl is inspired to explore and enjoy her individuality, in a safe environment that champions excellence and deep creativity. In 2023, A Level students achieved 88% A*-C grades and 49% A*-A, with university destinations at Russell Group and Ivy League institutions. Our successful community of alumnae feel proud to have been part of the school and frequently return to give inspiring lectures and careers advice.

Queen Anne’s embraces innovation such as Artificial Intelligence in learning and the use of digital devices. The school’s pioneering education prepares girls for the challenges of the modern world; inspiring girls to explore their individuality, free from gender stereotypes.
