Mathematics Senior School

On November 3 and 4, 45 girls from U5, L6 and U6 took part in the Senior Mathematical Challenge.

This is a national competition run by the University of Leeds with over 70,000 participants and 17 of our girls were awarded certificates.

The challenge encourages mathematical reasoning, precision of thought, and fluency in using basic mathematical techniques to solve interesting problems. The problems on the Senior Mathematical Challenge are designed to make students think. Most are accessible, yet still challenge those with more experience.

Lea B, Amelia F, Sorcha M, Éclair S, Gigi L, Emily L, Molly S, Lizzie D, Gabrielle H, Molly Z, Jiayi H and Paris M did brilliantly in achieving Bronze Certificates! A special congratulations goes to Gigi L who was Best in Year.

Maya F, Mia H and Holly W's fantastic efforts saw them achieving Silver Certificates! Holly W also achieved Best In Year.

And finally, Lizzie R and Joanne Z achieved Gold Certificates! Joanne also achieved Best in School, and both girls have qualified for the invite-only Senior Mathematical Kangaroo competition - a great achievement, and we await their results with anticipation.

Congratulations to our amazing mathematicians!
