To start the Trinity Term QAS staff took part in a morning of training with Equaliteach. The session focused on the issues of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion.
The staff were provided with training and completed activities on the following:
• Exploring terminology and understand the reasons why terms are acceptable or unacceptable
• Equipping staff with tools and techniques to create safe spaces and open up effective conversations about race, identity and racism with young people
• Practical activities which can be undertaken with young people to educate them about race, identity and racism
• Exploring techniques to effectively challenge racist attitudes and behaviours.
• Discussions around best practice, short-term and long-term approaches to responding to prejudice-related incidents using case study examples.
Queen Anne's is committed to providing it's staff with regular training on EDI, alongside giving students the ability to speak out on EDI issues through the EDI Society and it's sub-groups.
