There is never a dull moment at Queen Anne’s for both boarders and day girls.

Weekends are always an exciting time and many varied trips and activities are on offer. After a busy week of lessons students can have fun with their friends and relax!

Saturday Morning Programme

Saturday morning activities are part of the wider weekend programme offered at Queen Anne’s. It is an exciting opportunity for your daughter to experience a great range of activities, learn new skills and meet with friends.  Our aim is to encourage a culture of participation, where the weekend is seen as a time to try new experiences beyond what is on offer during the school week.

The programme of activities is created with student input. It is important that the activities on offer are ones which the students will enjoy.

Morning (10:30am-12:30pm)
Team sport fixturesStudents who participate in team sports may have fixtures on a Saturday morning. Fixtures are outlined in the school calendar and are organised by PE staff. Students may be required to travel in one of the school mini buses to compete.
Supervised fitnessThe fitness suite is open to students on a Saturday morning and is supervised by a member of staff. The fitness suite is full equipped and students are showed how to use the machines.
Indoor sport activitiesThe sports hall is set up on a Saturday morning for students to casually play indoor sports such as basketball and badminton.
Afternoon (1:00pm-3:00pm)

Each boarding house has a Graduate Assistant who will run in-house activities on a Saturday afternoon. Student suggestions are taken into consideration, but there is always something fun for them to participate in*, such as Bubble tea making, arts and crafts or cookery. During this time the swimming pool is also open and supervised, they can also head into Reading or Caversham for some shopping (supervised depending on age) or they can spend the afternoon relaxing.

Afternoon (3:00pm-5:00pm)

During the late afternoon, local, external groups and individuals will come into the school to run activities* with the students. We work closely with a number of student societies at Reading University and local businesses.

  • Sushi making (Reading University Japanese Society)
  • Crafts (Reading University Craft Society)
  • Self-defence
  • Paddle-boarding
  • Wreath making & flower arranging
  • Cake decorating

* the activities change each term and will vary depending on each year group.

Sunday Activities

Each Sunday there is an organised activity for the girls to take part in, whether they want to head into Caversham for a coffee with friends or beat the clock in an Escape Room, there is something for everyone!

  • Escape Room
