Tennis and Swimming Tour in Spain

Wednesday 18th April 2018

On the early hours of the 8 April, 40 girls set off to Gatwick airport for a plane bound for Barcelona, once they arrived the girls headed straight to their first training sessions. The tennis girls participated in six hours of training a day along with six hours of matches across the five days. The girls also had the opportunity to develop their Spanish as they kept score of their tennis matches in another language. The girls met with some exceptional junior players including those with Junior World rankings and players representing Tennis Europe;  even though the girls felt a little bit out of their depth at the time, they persevered and learnt a huge amount which was fantastic to see.

The swimming girls were just as busy as they got the opportunity to experience swimming in a world-class facility. They trained at Club Sabadell, a club that has produced Olympians in both swimming and water polo in the last two Olympics games.

Both groups of girls were successful in their perspective tours, with the girls achieving multiple wins between both groups. Aside from the sporting events, the girls also had the opportunity to go sightseeing, shopping, take a paella cooking class as well as learning to surf and flamenco dancing. This will have been a trip that they cherish the memories for years to come.
