Queen Anne’s Sports News

Wednesday 31st January 2018

A round up of all the latest sports news in the week commencing Monday 22 January 2018.

There has been great success for #QASCaversham girls as the England Lacrosse Selections for the main tournaments this year are out, we can proudly say that there are several Queen Anne’s girls who feature in their selection. WELL DONE GIRLS, your hard work has paid off and we can’t wait to see you all compete.

Emily O, Georgina E and Abi S have been selected to play at Home Internationals in Edinburgh in April.

Emily O, Abi S and Bella B are going to the USA in July on tour, probably to Maryland on the East Coast.

Alex G is a reserve for both Home Internationals and the USA tour.

Bella B has also been selected U20 European Championships in August in Poland.

It so nice to see so many Queen Annes girls competing in lacrosse at the national level, so keep going to training and it could be you in the future.

Cross Country

A quick update on last week’s cross country. The junior team placed 2nd overall at the Berkshire Schools Cross Country, which is a great result for Queen Anne’s.

There were netball matches this week against St Gabriel’s and Wycombe Abbey.

Wycombe Abbey have reached the regional finals and were using our team for a pre competition sharpener. The final score did not reflect how close the match was particularly in the 2nd and third quarters.

Whilst you were all tucked up in bed on Sunday morning the trampoline squad was making it’s way over to Gillingham in Kent for the Zonals, which is the equivalent of regionals in other sports.

The U13 novice team each had to perform a set routine and a voluntary routine. They held their nerve and tied for second place, well done to Poppy W, Alice B, Claudia M and Louisa H.

Only one second placed team, however, can go through to the national finals, so there had to be a count back. Queen Anne’s won the count back by O.6 and are now through to the nationals final in Northern Ireland.

Joining them at the National finals will be Amelia S who won the U14 elite category at the regionals in convincing style.

Claudia M placed 4th individually in the U13 novice category at the trampoline zonals as well as being part of the 2nd place U13 novice team.
