Queen Anne’s Sports News

Monday 25th June 2018

A round up of all the latest sports news.

Regional A Final

Queen Anne’s junior athletics squad travelled to Millfield for the regional A final of the English Schools Track and Field Cup. Competition was fierce as all the competing schools had already come first or second in their own county.

The team came 6th overall on 350 points, with the overall winners, Millfield on 400 points.

Highest individual event points scorer: Ella B 1500m

Highest combined event scorer: Lara R 200m and javelin

Cricket

A mixed year 9 and 10 cricket team competed at Henley Cricket Club to challenge Leighton Park girls. They match was very close and whilst our bowling was very consistent they stole the win through smart fielding.

Meanwhile two mixed year 7 and 8 cricket teams took on Leighton Park at Kidmore End Cricket Club, and successfully won the whole thing, with the A team coming first and the B team second.

Year 7 and 8 Cricket at Kidmore End Cricket Club:

Rowing

Rowing news this week kicks off with a congratulations to Scarlette R for winning a tankard last weekend at her rowing event.

Two Queen Anne’s quads raced at Henley Women’s regatta, which is the premier women’s regatta in the UK with over 1500 rowers travelling from across the world to compete there.

Alicia’s quad didn’t make it through the time trial but had a very good race. Rachel’s quad made it through the time trials, which is a first for Queen Anne’s. They raced a very talented Tideway Scullers crew and had a good tussle but lost in the heat.

An amazing event to be part of for both quads.

Alicia B, Sophie H, Maya McC, Philippa M, Rachel G, Katie G, Ella H, Charlotte W
