Queen Anne’s Sports News

Tuesday 24th April 2018

A round-up of all the latest sports news in the week commencing Monday 23 April 2018.

Despite the snow and adverse weather conditions we still saw fantastic matches and competitions.

On 11 April, Queen Anne’s Boat Club travelled to Spain, they had a fantastic time in Spain taking in the sun but also training for their upcoming races, for more detail on their trip click here.

During the Easter holidays, Ella B (L4) and Millie J (L4) took part in the British Schools National Alpine Ski Championships in Tignes, France. They competed in two events, the Giant Slalom and the Combi.

They also took part in the Flè and Chamois races in Val D’lsere and were awarded silver medals, their highest achievements to date.

Swim and tennis tour

40 girls from the 4s to L5 went on a swimming tour to Barcelona. Where they not only challenged their skill set but their Spanish as well experiencing Spanish Culture. You can find out more about what they got up to here.

SW regional Lax Academy

New selections to the SW regional lax academy were announced over Easter:

Amelia F (L5) at U17 level

Lauren R (U4),  Emma B (4), Milly B (4) and Flo C (4) at U15 level.

Lacrosse Home Internationals

Emily O (U5), George E (U6), Abby S (L6) and Alex G (L6) travelled up to Edinburgh to compete in the U19 Home Internationals over Easter. Both teams won convincingly against Scotland and Wales with Abby and Alex’s team crowned winners of the B tournament. Each game lasted 80 minutes and was, therefore, a great test of fitness. The U19 tournament ran alongside the senior’s so the girls were able to watch an extremely high level of lacrosse.

During the Easter break, Katherine D (U6) competed in the winter British dressage championships having qualified by winning 3 consecutive rounds. She came 9th in an extremely tough under 18 section and her score was 1% off the winner’s.

Queen Anne’s Dance Company was also particularly busy during the Easter break, our senior dance company member performed at the Henley Youth Festival which you can see here.

They also attended the Move It! Dance Convention in London. Amongst the hustle and bustle of the event, the girls witnessed some amazing dance performance by professional training colleges. They even spotted Kalani from dance moms!

National Schools Trampoline Final

At the end of the last term, the trampoline squad flew to Northern Ireland for the National Schools Trampoline Finals. Amelia S (4) came 5th in the U14 elite category,  Claudia M(4) came in 9th in the U13 novice individual category and the U13 novice team came fourth overall.

Amelia S (4) competed over the Easter break in the individual English Championship qualifiers in a group of 46. This, in turn, has secured her place comfortably for the finals in October.

Congratulations to everyone who competed over the last week.
