Queen Anne’s Sporting News
Monday 19th September 2016
Following this morning’s assembly, please find below for another round-up of Queen Anne’s recent sporting achievements:
Zara and Zoe Obamakinwa recently competed in the Kent County Championships the weekend before last. Zoe competed in the 150m and the 75m, achieving a new personal best. Zara won both the U13 Girls Shot and Discus events.
Congratulations also go to Cliona Muir who this weekend successfully passed her B Level Riding Test. Cliona was also part of a team that rode at Blenheim Horse Trials on Friday in the Pony Club 1m Eventer’s Challenge, which features show jumping followed by cross-country. She rode a clear round with 0.2 time penalties.
Eleanor Blois-Brooke has had a very successful summer of rowing. She won the U15 Dinghy (mixed) at the Wargrave & Shiplake Regatta as well as the Women’s J15 Single Scull and the Women’s J15 Coxed Quad at the Lea Regatta in London this past weekend.
This week in lacrosse, we had a high turnout of girls and parents on Saturday afternoon for our first fixture of the season against main rivals Downe House. We won five matches (U15A, U15B, U14A, U13A, U13B) and lost three (1sts, 2nds, U14B), winning the fixture overall. This is a fantastic result and shows the hard work that the girls have put in over the summer period. Also on Saturday, the L4 year group completed their lacrosse trials on Saturday morning during the school’s Open Morning.
Some Queen Anne’s girls took advantage of the fantastic opportunity to train with the England Lacrosse Squad. This is Amelia Foord and Millie Batchelor with Miss Armstrong.
Good luck to the 1st, 2nd and U15A netball teams who have their first fixtures of the season this week.
