Queen Anne’s pupil, Hannah Townend, 4s, has been confirmed as the winner of the England Lacrosse 2017 World Cup Mascot Competition, winning the opportunity to walk out with Team England in front of a home crowd during the 2017 FIL Rathbones Women’s Lacrosse World Cup.

Hannah’s winning design, which features a lion dressed in the England Lacrosse kit, will be brought to life as the official 2017 mascot and will be officially launched by Hannah at the National Schools’ Lacrosse Championships, taking place at the end of February 2015.

Speaking about her design, Hannah said,

“I was thrilled to hear that my design had won the 2017 World Cup Mascot Competition; I really enjoyed the design process and I did quite a lot of research before putting pen to paper. I chose to use a lion as my mascot as this represents the national animal of England and then I used the England Lacrosse kit to tie in the theme of lacrosse. I can’t wait to see my design come to life and I am looking forward to attending the World Cup in 2017; I would love to see England win!”
