9/11 Sculpture Unveiled By Music From Queen Anne's Student

Tuesday 17th March 2015

Today (Tuesday 17 March), music composed by L6 student, Gabrielle Woodward, will feature at the unveiling of a sculpture created in memory of the victims of 9/11.

The sculpture is being unveiled by The Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, at The Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in Stratford, London, and Gabrielle’s composition, ‘IX/XI’, will be played by a professional brass quintet during the event. The sculpture has been designed by Miya Ando and is made of a piece of twisted steel from the Twin Towers.

This will be the first public performance of Gabrielle’s composition by the brass quintet. Gabrielle also had the opportunity to conduct the quintet last Saturday at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, where she is currently studying at the weekends, with the help of our Head of Music, Mr John Padley.
