SATURDAY MORNING PROGRAMME OVERVIEW

Saturday morning activities are part of the wider weekend programme offered at Queen Anne’s. It is an exciting opportunity for your daughter to experience a great range of activities, learn new skills and meet with friends.  Parents too can take part in a number of activities including Mandarin and Dance classes or simply catch up with friends in Cafe 6.  Parents are requested to sign up to activities via the Weekly Bulletin.

An up-to-date Saturday Morning activity timetable will be available via the Houses at the start of each term.

DRAMA

A great way to kick off your weekend with this high-energy, turbo-charged, no-yawning-allowed early morning club! The emphasis is on energy, creativity,discipline and team work. This is a “drop in” club which means that girls do not commit themselves to attending every time, they can come as frequently or infrequently as they wish.

So, come on, don’t be shy,… Give Drama Club a try!

Timings: 9:00am – 10:00am

TEXTILES

Girls can get to grips learning new skills such as garment design and construction including the opportunity to sow using a machine to learn techniques and skills such as sewing a hem, a waistline, darts, pockets, and achieving a well-fitted garment. Such satisfaction is experienced by all participants when they realise that they have made an article of clothing by themselves and, in the process, have become Young Designers!

COOKERY 

Come along and try cooking a range of delicious dishes including pasta making, pizzas, curry, choux buns and seasonal dishes.

Timings: 9:00am – 10:30am, 10:30am – 12:00pm

Venue: Home Economics

Boxercise 

An opportunity for girls to practice and improve strength, discipline and fast reflexes!

Timings: 9:00am – 9:45am

Venue: Forum, Morgan Sports Centre

ROCK CLIMBING

Climbing is one of the fastest growing recreational activities in the world and one of the reasons why is due to the rise of indoor climbing walls. Indoor climbing offers a safe and controlled environment, allowing new climbers to quickly grasp the needed skills—belaying, rope management, climbing equipment balance and movement.

But climbing is not only about the personal physical development, girls will also enjoy an amazing sense of achievement from overcoming their fears and they will learn to trust their climbing partners! Over the term, sessions will cover the basics for new climbers as well as providing more experienced climbers the opportunity to improve their technique with various games and challenges.

Timings: 9:00am – 11:00am

BADMINTON 

This is a fun, recreational session where you can enjoy some match play.  Why not challenge your friends, or even the coach supervising the session!

Timings: 9:30am – 10:30am

Venue: Sports Hall, Morgan Sports Centre

Cricket

Cricket is a great summer sport, and girls of all abilities are welcome to learn the ropes and have some fun.

Timings: 10:00am – 11:00am

Venue: Field

Tennis

Enjoy the fresh air on the tennis courts enjoy a friendly rally, or challenge your friends to a fast paced match. Tennis is a fun way to exercise and socialise!

FITNESS SUITE 

An opportunity for girls to develop stamina and muscular endurance.

Timings: 10:00am – 12:00pm

Venue: Fitness Suite, Morgan Sports Centre

SESSIONS FOR PARENTS

Dance Classes

An open dance class covering a variety of styles, where a new routine will be taught each week. There will be some focus on body conditioning within the warm up. This class offers the chance to learn something new and develop a previous hobby.

The classes will take place in the Morgan Sports Centre, Dance Studio from 11.30am to 12.30pm.

Mandarin Classes

Mandarin Chinese sessions cover a variety of aspects, working to build a foundation in learning Chinese and conversational Mandarin. The sessions are a great way to expand knowledge, especially for those being introduced to Chinese. They are casual sessions and good fun for those with an interest in foreign languages and cultures.

The classes will take place in The Space, LS2 from 10am-11am.
