UCAS Create Your Future event

On Tuesday 16 October the careers department took a group of students to the UCAS Create your Future event at the ExCel Centre in London.

 

This was a unique face-to-face experience for those interested in the creative industries, with hundreds of creative courses, traineeships and careers in design, music and the performance arts, all under one roof. Course leaders, current students and industry specialists were available to answer questions and give advice. There were also opportunities to attend more in depth seminars or take part in interactive workshops.

 

Our girls had an exciting and very informative time at the UCAS Create Your Future event, and here are some of their thoughts on the day:

 

“There were so many universities that you could ask for advice, and it was really helpful to see the whole range of possibilities that you can have” – Cristina R (L6)

 

“This helped a lot with the knowledge about different universities and one year courses I could take in a potential gap year” Sam C (L6)

 

“I found today’s trip to “Create Your Future Event” really exciting and insightful. It gave me the opportunity to visit different universities that I would’ve never thought of attending and have now become one of my dream places to pursue my dream of art at” Beatrice F (L6)

 

“My favourite parts were the interactive experiences because you were being taught by teachers from that university as well as being taught new musical concepts” Jess E (U5)

 

“The interactive seminar session on illustration and storytelling was particularly inspiring, and has taught me a lot about how artists in the contemporary industry work” Grace G (U6)

 

“It was a very informative event and specifically targets creative arts students. Doing some research about the exhibitors and preparing questions beforehand was extremely helpful. The best thing was talking to students who are doing the course I want to join from different universities” Sherry X (U6)

All the U5 GCSE drama students travelled by coach to the Oxford Playhouse on the afternoon of Thursday 1 November to see ‘Shakespeare in Love’, adapted for the stage by Lee Hall, based on the screenplay from the original film by Marc Norman and Tom Stoppard, with music by Paddy Cunneen.
