Sporting Highlights, week commencing Monday 1 December

On Saturday 6 December, our Lacrosse teams played their last matches of the term with some away and home fixtures against St Mary’s School.

The senior sides all played well against with the 1st team narrowly losing their away match 5-4, despite missing some of their key players due to an A Level Chemistry practical coursework commitment. Rebecca Beech and Gabriella Austin continued their great form and were commended. Captain Alexandra Crowther, once again lead by example and was named the Player’s Player. The other two teams both played at home with the 2nd team proving too strong for the opposition, eventually winning 8-4. It was an excellent team effort with Lara Sharrock chosen as the Player’s Player. Fiona Gray, Alexandra Silverlock and Annie Fountain  all received commendations. The 3rd team showed their mental toughness against a particularly strong team and deserved a closer scoreline than their 4-2 defeat. The whole team is to be commended for maintaining their composure and the true spirit of the game. The standout performer was the Player’s Player, Fayha Mohammed, whose speed and movement was very impressive. Meanwhile the resilience, skills and work ethic of Rosie Griffin, Charlotte Stanton, Sophie Grosz-Dequenne and Poppy Suthon resulted in four commendations awarded.

The U15A and U14A teams played exceptionally well, winning 10-3 and 10-5 respectively with Player’s Player awards going to Isabella Bowater, Shana Hart, Zara Roberts and Anabelle Roberts, with Cassandra Shutter, Ella Harris, Alice Oram, Eleanor Smith and Camilla Cooper receiving commendations. The tables were turned in the U15B and U14B matches with a couple of defeats but special mentions go to the Player’s Player, which was given to Isabel Zealley and Rachel Hanson.

Midweek, there was all the excitement of the Inter-House Netball, which took place on Thursday 4 December, although the weather sadly impacted on the senior competition ……. further details of this and the final fixture still to be played against Beaconsfield High will be given out in assembly later this week.
