Queen Annne’s Alumna speaks on Apprenticeships LIVE with Coca-Cola European Partners
Tuesday 2nd October 2018
On Wednesday 26 September, Queen Anne’s alumna Roisin M participated in a live stream with Learn Live UK, to talk about her experience on her Coca-Cola European Partners’ degree apprenticeship scheme.
Degree apprenticeships are becoming increasingly popular alternatives to university for school and college leavers. They combine full-time paid work and part-time university study, to offer candidates the opportunity to gain a full Bachelors or Masters degree, while partaking in practical, on-the-job training. Although many degree apprenticeships are competitive to get in to, those who do succeed will have no student fees to pay, and often a guaranteed job offer at the end.
“I knew a degree apprenticeship was right for me because it meant that I was able to do something I wanted to do, and do it straight away” Roisin explained. “I wanted to continue learning, but also gain real work experience.”
Roisin, representing the field sales department, was joined by two engineering apprentices, and Head of Apprenticeships at Coca-Cola European Partners Sharon Blyfield.
The four representatives from the global company answered real-time questions submitted by viewers, and provided some very useful advice on the application process, and insights into their experiences so far.
Roisin’s field sales apprenticeship so far has been a varied combination of classes, by third party top sales specialists, and field work throughout London, helping businesses to increase their profits.
“My advice to school leavers would be: be a shepherd and not a sheep – it’s your future.”
