The final sports news round-up of Lent Term 2019 at Queen Anne’s School.

 

Athletics

Holly D (L4) has started her athletics season competing at the Lee Valley stadium for the Speed Demons in Marlow and achieved two new personal bests. Ella B (4) was also at the same event with the Chiltern Harriers.

Katie L (4) has been competing regularly for Maidenhead athletics club and recently achieved a new personal best in high jump of 1m 50cm. She was lucky enough to meet Colin Jackson at the weekend , the former 110m hurdles world champion and Olympic silver medallist, who was at Bracknell athletics track encouraging the athletes of the future.

 

 

Pentathlon

There were strong results for two Queen Anne’s girls at the Pentathlon GB Schools East Region Laser Run. This was race 1 of a National GB ranking series. Libby R (L4) brought home gold and Flo D (L4) the bronze over the 1200m Yr7 Laser Run, which included 3 shoots on the 5m range.

 

   

 

Lacrosse – South West Rally

On 23 March, the U13A and U12A teams travelled to Downe House School for the South West Rally.
The U13 team beat Sherborne in the quarter finals and Downe House in the semi finals. They narrowly lost out by one goal in the finals against St Swithuns.

 

     

 

The U12s followed a similar path, beating Monmouth in the quarter finals and Godolphin in the semi finals. In the final against St Mary’s Calne, they needed two periods of overtime and a golden goal before St Mary’s were declared the winners.

 

     

 

Lacrosse

In other lacrosse news, Lauren R (L5) has been selected for the South East U15 regional team.

Holly B (L5) played in the Reigate Lacrosse tournament last Sunday with Centaurs Lacrosse club. Her team did exceptionally well and went on to win the tournament.

Holly B (L5) and Georgina L (L5) will be heading to Canada this summer with Centaurs to play in the Lacrosse Festival being held there alongside the World Cup.

 

 

Netball

The final netball matches of the season have been played over the last week couple of weeks.

The Crerar Quaiche for the team of the term goes to the Trampoline Squad, where both teams placed 4th in the National Finals.
