Queen Anne’s Sports News

Monday 4th December 2017

A round up of all the latest sports news from Queen Anne’s in the week commencing Monday 27 November.

Lacrosse – Supercounties

Lauren R (U4) has been awarded the U15 Supercounties Player of the Season after last Sunday’s Supercounties tournament. Lauren helped her team to vicotry in a nail biting final scoring a key goal after a one handed interception. Lauren was chosen as the most valuable player out of 200 girls who had been deemed the strongest for their age group in the South West region. This is a fantastic achievement for Lauren and clearly shows she has a bright future ahead of her in the lacrosse world.

Three Queen Anne’s dances took their ISTD Ballet exam last Sunday. Bo D (4), Minnie F (4) and Daisy S (U4) all worked hard in the lead up to the exam including a class before going into their exam. Special recognition must go to Minnie who also took her Grade Four RAD exam a few days previously. Now it is the nervous wait for the results!

The dull and wet afternoon did not deter the equestrian team members for their initial training session of the academic year at Checkendon. Lucy, Ellie and Emelia were put through their paces by a highly regarded instructor, helping them to perfect their skills in show jumping. They concentrated on their technique over fences and the use of hand to leg coordination.

As a result of the Thursday swim gala being cancelled the Abbey changed their netball teams and arrived with an A team when we were geared up to play mixed B and C teams. Our teams stood their ground and worked hard to challenge them.
