Queen Anne's Sport Report
Monday 9th November 2015
Please find below for a round-up of all the Queen Anne’s sporting results from the week commencing Monday 2 November:
The heavy rain affected much of the scheduled sport last week, with all the weekend lacrosse fixtures cancelled, but here is a summary of the fixtures that did take place:
In Netball there were 8 mid-week matches, with Queen Anne’s enjoying 5 wins and 1 draw and hosting their first home fixtures under their new portable floodlights. Highlights included two great victories by the U14A team; a 21-8 trouncing of Downe House and a 11-4 win against The Marist Senior School and wins by the 2nd team, U16A and B sides against St Helen and St Catherine’s. Congratulations to all the Commended and Players’ Players detailed on our external Sport website – www.qassport.org.uk
In Swimming there were home victories by both our U13A and B sides, thanks to a fantastic team effort, lead superbly by Captains Olivia Mowat and Niamh McKenna. The U13A team won 71-40, with sparkling performances by Olive Richards, Amy McCall, Georgina Lewis and India Paton. The U13B team snatched an exciting 61-50 win with standout performances by Harriet Seaton, Chloe Butterwick and both relay teams.
In Tennis, our 2nd team had a tough winter fixture against St Mary’s Ascot, but despite defeat, played with much determination with Nia Hudson named best player.
Finally, in the English Schools’ Regional Cross Country Cup competition, the U13A girls’ team competed with immense character, finishing in 9th place. Our top finisher in the extremely muddy conditions was Olive Richards, followed home closely by Isobel Hughes, Jasmine Veitch and Amber Ingram. A special mention also goes to Amy McCall, who fell, and Lauren Richmond, who overcame a chronic stitch, as they both continued on to complete the course ahead of other rival runners, showing true Queen Anne’s strength of character.
