Queen Anne’s girls attend the Kids Lit Quiz

Tuesday 11th December 2018

On Tuesday 27 November, a group of Queen Anne’s L4’s and 4’s travelled to Cokethorpe School, to participate in the Oxfordshire/Berkshire heat of the Kids Lit Quiz.

The Kids’ Lit Quiz is an annual literature quiz for students aged 10 – 13 years, held in various countries around the world, including Indonesia, New Zealand and Nigeria.

Daisy H (4) kindly gave us an account of their trip:

“When we arrived at the Kids Lit Quiz I was shaking with nerves. We’d just got off the bus, and I was worried about what was going to await me. I had never gone to the Kids Lit Quiz before and had no idea what to expect.

As we walked into the hall, we were greeted to a bunch of small tables dotted around the room. At the front was a long table where a group of authors were sat.

We found the table that said “Queen Anne’s School”. On the table, there was a booklet full of all the different rounds. The rounds were: Abbreviations, Caves, Reptiles, Ice and Snow, Masks, Teeth and Birth Characters. We were allowed to pick a joker round, where we would like double points, and decided on Masks.

After a few minutes or so, the first round started with Abbreviations. After the round finished, the answers were revealed, and we found out that we were joint first place! This led to a quick fire round, which we won (thanks to Alice)!

Overall, the day was really fun and a really great experience. Although we didn’t win overall, I was still impressed with some of my knowledge of books, even of some I forgot I had read!”

Thank you so much Daisy, we’re glad you all enjoyed your trip to the Kids Lit Quiz!
