Queen Anne’s Drama Teacher Stars in ‘Jesus Christ, Superstar’
Monday 24th September 2018
Drama teacher, Mr Godfrey, can be relied upon to practice what he preaches: he’s been performing each night, from September 13 – September 22, in “Jesus Christ Superstar” at the Progress Theatre in Reading.
Mr Godfrey, who trained as an actor at the prestigious Webber Douglas Academy in London, has been playing the role of Pontius Pilate in the much-loved Andrew Lloyd Webber musical. After his drama school training, Mr Godfrey spent a number of years as a professional actor before turning his back on the stage and taking his wealth of experience to the classroom.
Mr Punter, Head of Drama, said: “I saw the show this week and thoroughly enjoyed it. It was great to see one of my colleagues and friends up there treading the boards!”
This was an experience Mr Godfrey enjoyed very much, and found particularly useful to bring back to his drama teaching. The show was almost a sell out for all eleven performances, due to excellent reviews, including one from the Henley Standard, which can be viewed here, or by selecting the image below.
