Chocolate Workshop at Queen Anne’s
Tuesday 24th January 2017
On Wednesday 18 January, girls from Queen Anne’s were treated to a workshop about many people’s favourite thing, chocolate! It was run by Queen Anne’s Old Girl, Caragh Knight.
The workshop provided my Miss Knight, got the girls thinking about the physical properties of different kinds of chocolate, what it is that defines the many types that are on the market?
They learnt that there are six different polymorphs of chocolate depending on how they were heated and set making them all look and taste different. Nobody yet knows exactly what structure the polymorphs have – is this a possible PhD for one of our girls?
Miss Knight also went on to talk to the girls about the possible careers out there in food science, of which she is outstanding proof of!
