Science Week At Queen Anne's

Thursday 12th March 2015

To celebrate British Science Week, which runs from Friday 13 March until Sunday 22 March, Queen Anne’s have organised a number of fun science activities for pupils to enjoy.

To help launch British Science Week, this week there have been a number of new fluffy arrivals in the shape of chicks. The chicks have been living in the Science department’s Multi-Purpose lab all week and have been a firm favourite with pupils and teachers.

Monday 16 March – Junior Science Festival

Queen Anne’s will be hosting a Junior Science Festival for Preparatory and Junior schools, including a fun quiz and a science show, delivered by ‘science made simple. L4 – U4 pupils will also have the opportunity to watch the show.

Tuesday 17 March – U4 Inter-House Science Quiz

The U4 year group will take part in a fun inter-house Science Quiz during Period 5 – there will be plenty of chocolate up for grabs for the winners!

Wednesday 18 March – Foundation Schools’ Science Challenge

Students from Queen Anne’s School will compete alongside students from our Foundation Schools including Grey Coat Hospital, Westminster City School, Emanuel School and Sutton Valence School in a Science Challenge event called ‘Dead on Time’. Participants will be given a taste of real-life forensics together with the opportunity to solve a mysterious death. A hands-on experience for all the students involved.

Thursday 19 March – Reading University Seminars

Researchers from The University of Reading will be visiting Queen Anne’s School to conduct a number of seminars in the Lecture Theatre.

Friday 20 March – ‘Science Busking’

A firm favourite with pupils and teachers alike, ‘Science Busking’ is back this year and will be taking place in the Quad with each department offering 3 hands-on activities.
