Science Department Hold Successful Stem Cells Seminar

Friday 1st November 2013

On Tuesday 22 October, the Queen Anne’s Science Department held a Stem Cells Seminar for parents and Sixth Form students. The seminar  was led by two specialists Dr Angela Bithell, who spoke about what makes a stem cell a stem cell and Dr Che Connon, who spoke about perspectives in ocular tissue engineering.

A fantastic number of parents and students attended the seminar and following the seminar, some of Queen Anne’s students had the chance to chat with the speakers informally and enjoy some refreshments.

During the seminar, one of the speakers came up with a rather neat acronym for Queen Anne’s links with Reading University, QUSAR, which stands for Queen Anne’s Science Affiliated with Reading. The Science Department now plan to hold future Seminars to highlight the school’s strong links with the science faculties at the University of Reading.
