Retrocycle Raise £1,500 For Great Ormond Street Hospital
Tuesday 23rd June 2015
On Monday 22 June, Queen Anne’s winning ‘Tycoon in Schools’ company, Retrocycle, travelled to Great Ormond Street Hospital in London to present the hospital with a cheque for £1,500. Retrocycle, which consists of 7 U4 pupils, have been busy raising money for the charity through selling their stylish everyday goods made from recycled materials.
The girls thoroughly enjoyed their experience, presenting their cheque of £1,500 to Great Ormond Street Hospital and also stopping at Hamleys Toy Store and spending £200 on toys and gifts for the children who are currently in hospital.
Romilly Hayward, Managing Director of Retrocycle, said,
“The hospital are a very deserving charity and it was extremely rewarding to give back to them. A few of our members have had very personal experiences with the hospital and the work they do is truly incredible, we could not have found a better cause. We were so excited to win Tycoon in Schools and to be given £1,000 to reinvest and are carrying on our business with a percentage of all our profits going to the hospital.”
Great Ormond Street Hospital forms the UK’s only academic biomedical research centre specialising in paediatrics. Since its formation in 1852, the hospital has been dedicated to children’s healthcare and to finding new and better ways to treat childhood illnesses. Some of the money we donated will go towards funding play specialists who explain what the child’s treatment will involve through games that make it a lot less intimidating and nerve racking for the children. The rest of the money will be going towards facilities and medical equipment and research for the hospital.
