L4 PGL Trip Adventure

Friday 25th September 2015

On Monday 14 September until Wednesday 16 September, our new L4 pupils ventured off on a adventure weekend to the PGL Adventure Centre at Windmill Hill. Please find below for a writeup from their trip from Mrs Annabel Oddie, L4 Year Co-ordinator, including some photographs documenting their time away together:

“The L4 girls enjoyed three fun-filled days of team-building activities last week at PGL; the favourite being the ‘Giant Swing’ and ‘Zip Wire’. Both days involved waking up at 7am ready for a hearty breakfast to prepare them for the day ahead. The girls then participated in four different activities throughout the day with lunch in the middle to keep them going. Some activities required many of the girls to conquer a few fears of heights and dangling in a harness and they all did exceptionally well and the staff were all very proud. The teachers also took part in the activities, much to the girls’ amusement!

The PGL Centre arranged an evening of entertainment for the girls each night which involved a range of ice-breaker activities on the first night and on the second night a disco (we did witness some fantastic dance moves!). Overall the girls had a fantastic time and returned to school with confidence and many new friends to take them forward into their first year at Queen Anne’s.

I hope you enjoy viewing the many photos from the trip.”

Two of our L4 pupils, who attended the trip, have also given their review of the adventure trip:

“All the Lower 4’s were extremely excited last Monday morning for their PGL trip. As it poured down with rain, the hoard of children clambered onto the bus ready to start their journey to East Sussex.

Upon arrival, we were greeted by friendly PGL staff, and were taken to see our cabins that would be home for the next three days. After being split into five groups, everyone started with different activities. One of the clear favourites was the zip wire! An exhilarating morning came to an end as we walked over to lunch ready for a fun packed afternoon, involving raft building, abseiling, canoeing and for some of us, an unexpected dip in the lake!

The three days went by very quickly as we all made new friends, conquered some of our fears, enjoyed new experiences and despite the incredibly wet and uncooperative weather, we all came back smiling and with great to stories to tell!”
