Good Deed October

Wednesday 30th October 2013

A member of Queen Anne’s staff has been doing her bit for charity this October. Mrs Hannah Bushnell, Finance and Administration Secretary, has taken part in a number of activities, along with the support of her sister and two sister-in-laws, to help raise awareness and raise money for cancer charities including MacMillan Cancer Support and Cancer Research UK.

Hannah explained, “Two of my closest friends have both lost a parent to cancer within the last 18 months and I wanted to make a contribution not only to fund raising but to help raise awareness.”

Hannah has been involved in ‘Sober October’ for MacMillan Cancer Support, raising nearly £300 in total so far, and on Friday 25 October, Hannah completed the Windsor Twilight Race for Life along with her sister-in-law Emma Napper, raising £235.

To make an additional contribution, Hannah visited the John Radcliffe Hospital to donate some much needed platelets from her blood. Unfortunately Hannah was an unsuitable candidate to donate platelets but she was kindly re-assured by the Blood & Transplant team during her visit, that donating regular blood was still vital to blood stocks. Therefore Hannah visited her local centre and donated her regular blood.

Congratulations to Hannah and her family on their fantastic achievements.
